My Story
Why I became a permanent makeup artist
I didn't fall into this career — I chose it on purpose. I watched the women closest to me spend hours every week in front of a mirror, trying to "fix" features they were already beautiful with. I watched my clients in the beauty industry feel insecure walking out the door without makeup. I knew there had to be a better way.
The first time I saw a permanent makeup transformation in person, I cried. The client looked in the mirror and didn't recognize the version of herself she'd been hiding. That moment changed me. I went home and started training the next week — and I haven't stopped learning since.
Today, eight certifications and hundreds of clients later, I still feel that same pull every time someone sits up from the chair. The technique has gotten better, the pigments have evolved, my eye has sharpened — but the magic is the same. You walk in covered. You walk out free.
That's why Brows by Katy exists. Not for trends. Not for the loudest brow on Instagram. For the woman who just wants to wake up, glance in the mirror, and feel like herself.
